The Opportunity Fund

Country advocacy is critical to holding governments accountable for their commitments, yet too often civil society organizations (CSOs) simply don’t have the resources to support their efforts. The Opportunity Fund is a flexible source of funding for family planning advocacy managed by PAI for Advance Family Planning. It helps CSOs seize advocacy opportunities to accelerate FP2020′s success. We support advocates in the Global South to secure policy and funding decisions aimed at achieving FP2020 and Ouagadougou Partnership commitments at national, state and district levels.

Faith Plus Family Planning

In many developing countries, faith-based organizations are key healthcare providers and advocates, delivering a significant proportion of primary health care services, including reproductive, maternal and newborn care. Faith Plus Family Planning is a PAI initiative that provides religious organizations in the developing world with small grants and technical support to hold governments accountable for providing quality family planning and reproductive health services.

QUEST: Quality Upheld, Every Service, Every Time

Around the world, 214 million women and girls want to prevent pregnancy but lack modern contraception. While national and international interest in expanding access to reproductive health is on the rise, policymakers often do not place adequate emphasis on the quality of care delivered and the rights of the women and girls receiving that care. This initiative will strengthen the abilities of local advocates to assess and monitor the quality of family planning programs and make the case for quality and rights to be a national priority.

PHC Pathways

A strong primary health care system not only delivers high quality care and services, it also builds trust with families and communities to promote health and well-being as well as treatment when necessary. Fundamentally, when primary health care works people are able to get the care they need to stay healthy. But the mere presence of a primary health care system is not enough. Financial barriers, infrastructure problems, stigma and mistrust can stand in the way.

PAI convenes the Primary Health Care Strategy Group (PHC SG), a coalition of civil society health advocates from around the world. The PHC SG dedicated to improving global and domestic financing and policy to strengthen primary health care systems for the achievement of universal health coverage. Ensuring quality of care, health equity and access to health services underpins the coalition’s efforts.

YOUAccess Fund

The YOUAccess grant provides flexible funding to youth-led organizations for creative risk-taking in projects that increase access to and use of contraception for young people. Grant awardee efforts contribute to building family planning champions among policy makers, community leaders, organizations, and individuals at national, district and community levels. The fund offers the opportunity for innovative project development, knowledge sharing and evidence-building for the best course for future initiatives to meet youth contraceptive needs.

Reproductive Health Advocacy Partnership (RHAP)

The Reproductive Health Advocacy Partnership (RHAP) is a multi-year initiative which seeks to build stronger advocacy institutions that can effectively influence funding and policy decisions on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) at the district, national and/or international level.

This project partners with local organizations in Malawi and Zambia to identify priority issues that can improve sexual and reproductive health and rights as well as opportunities to strengthen institutional effectiveness in these two countries.

Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC)

LAC is a PAI initiative that provides technical support to sub-regional and national organizations to address gaps in sexual and reproductive health services. Although the region has made important strides, high levels of inequality undermine universal access to sexual reproductive health. Local organizations play a critical role in advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights, especially among the most vulnerable populations in the region.
